On 93.3 FM, Choice FM is a community radio station serving the eastern end of Freetown, registered as a community broadcaster with a brief to amplify local voices. It belongs to the Independent Radio Network, the pool of community and private stations whose shared election coverage was rated the most impartial news source of Sierra Leone's 2012 polls, and its journalists took part in BBC Media Action election-reporting training ahead of that vote. Local news, discussion programmes and community announcements for the neighbourhoods of east Freetown form the core of its schedule.
