102.1 The Edge — CFNY-FM — is Toronto's landmark alternative rock station, owned by Corus Entertainment and licensed to Brampton. The station began in 1960 as CHIC-FM and reinvented itself as CFNY in 1976, broadcasting freeform new wave and punk from a small Brampton house; Rush's "The Spirit of Radio" was written about it. Today, from studios at Corus Quay and a transmitter atop the CN Tower, it plays a classic alternative format across the Greater Toronto Area.
