Bush Radio broadcasts on 89.5 FM from Cape Town and is proudly known as “The Mother of Community Radio in Africa”. It grew out of the Cassette Education Trust’s anti-apartheid tape project and made its first, illegal broadcast on 25 April 1993, years before winning a permanent licence in 2002. Today it serves the Cape Flats with music and talk, broadcasting news in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa.
