Bluegrass Country grew out of one of American radio's great traditions: WAMU in Washington, D.C. aired its first bluegrass show, Bluegrass Unlimited with Dick Spottswood and Gary Henderson, on July 2, 1967, and the music became the station's signature for decades. Spun into a full-time service in 2001 and now heard online and on WAMU's HD2 channel, it plays classic and contemporary bluegrass, old-time and Americana with knowledgeable hosts around the clock.
