Beagle Radio is Whangārei's volunteer-run community station, broadcasting on 88.1 FM across the city and streaming online around the clock. It made its first official broadcast on 27 February 2015, founded by friends determined to give non-mainstream music a home. Around thirty-three volunteers now produce more than twenty shows across a fortnightly cycle from the ONEONESIX building on Bank Street, each DJ bringing their own tastes and flair. In December 2023 Beagle became an incorporated society, securing its grassroots future.
