Beach FM 106.3 has entertained and informed the Kāpiti Coast and Horowhenua since 15 August 1998, broadcasting from Paraparaumu on 106.3 FM. It is the official Civil Defence information station for its district — a serious local role alongside its music and talk. Beach FM is also home to the New Zealand Retro Weekly Top 40 Countdown with Rob Walker, described as the most syndicated locally produced music show on New Zealand radio, and remains proudly local as a member of the Independent Media Association.
