On air since April 8, 2014, 97.3 The Rock is Estero Bay Community Radio, a volunteer-run nonprofit serving Morro Bay, Los Osos and Cayucos on California's Central Coast. Founder Hal Abrams launched the project in 2011, and today more than fifty volunteer hosts present hyper-local, playlist-free programming — an eclectic mix of rock and roots music plus local talk on Fridays and Saturdays. The station also doubles as the area's emergency broadcaster.
