947 is Johannesburg’s hit music station, broadcasting across Gauteng on 94.7 FM under Primedia ownership. It first went on air on 1 September 1964 as Radio Highveld, the SABC’s very first regional FM service, and spent two decades as 94.7 Highveld Stereo before shortening its name to 947 in September 2014. Today it pairs contemporary hit radio with big personalities and flagship events such as the 947 Cycle Challenge.
