8Radio is an Irish alternative music station founded in 2013 by Simon Maher, co-founder of the much-missed Dublin station Phantom FM. Broadcasting mainly online under the motto 'Playing the Music We Like', it is staffed largely by volunteers and ex-Phantom presenters who champion new Irish music, indie and alternative classics that mainstream stations ignore. The station also reaches FM audiences through regular temporary licences in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick, and since 2025 it has broadcast on DAB+ across Leinster. Run by 8Radio Vision Ltd, it has become a standard-bearer for human-curated, passion-driven music radio in Ireland.
