702 is Johannesburg’s flagship news and talk station, broadcasting across Gauteng on 92.7 and 106 FM. It first went on air on 28 June 1980 from Bophuthatswana as a music station, then reinvented itself with a talk format in 1988, becoming a rare independent source of news during the apartheid years. Owned by Primedia, it now fills the day with current affairs, phone-in debate, business and sport.
