630 CHED is Edmonton's heritage news and talk station, owned by Corus Entertainment. It first signed on March 3, 1954, and became a fixture at 630 on the AM dial from 1963, switching to its news/talk/sports format in 1993. CHED has been the flagship radio home of the Edmonton Oilers since 1995, and its Santas Anonymous charity — begun in the 1950s — remains an Edmonton institution.
