550 KTSA is San Antonio's heritage news and talk station — and one of America's oldest, first licensed in May 1922 as WCAR and taking the KTSA calls in 1927. It pioneered Top 40 under Gordon McLendon in the 1950s and became the country's first AM stereo station in 1982 before settling into talk in 1991. Today local hosts by day, syndicated talk at night, and ABC News keep 'Keep Talking San Antonio' true to its name.
