Radio Essex is the commercial station for Essex, broadcasting across the county including Chelmsford, Southend and Colchester. It descends from a patchwork of earlier local stations such as Essex FM and Chelmer FM, and today combines local presenters, travel and news with mainstream pop hits. Part of the independent local radio sector rather than a national network, it keeps its identity firmly rooted in Essex life.
