Britain's most famous pirate station, Radio Caroline first broadcast at Easter 1964 from a ship anchored off Felixstowe, founded by Irish entrepreneur Ronan O'Rahilly to break the BBC's pop music monopoly. From the Ross Revenge it defied the authorities through the offshore era, and today it is fully legal — broadcasting on 648 AM, on DAB and online, with album-oriented rock and monthly broadcasts still made from the Ross Revenge itself.
