Sound Up Station NFRS is an internet radio station broadcasting from Nishinari-ku, Osaka — specifically the downtown Tengachaya neighbourhood — to a worldwide online audience. Its programming leans on talk and independent music: original talk shows, indie-scene music programmes, readings and audio drama, introduced by the station as 'sound entertainment' from Osaka's shitamachi heart. Entirely web-based and broadcasting in Japanese, it is a small, personality-driven alternative to Japan's big commercial networks.
